Visconti Studio sits on the edge of Kingston University's Kingston Hill Campus, surrounded by green space and only a street away from Richmond Park. Kingston upon Thames is a short bus ride away, and the studio is easily reachable by train, bus, or car.
What's included
When you book a recording session at Visconti Studio, you get full access to the live room, control room, machine room, and our collection of instruments and equipment. Sessions are supported by our experienced in-house engineers and technicians.
Whether you are tracking a full ensemble, band, or recording a solo artist, the studio is set up to accommodate a wide range of sessions and workflows.
Venue hire
The octagonal live room is also available for hire as a standalone space for concerts, talks, conferences, demonstrations, and other events. With its striking architecture, natural acoustics, and a full-range PA system, the room offers something distinctive for events that benefit from an unusual and atmospheric setting.
We also welcome enquiries from filmmakers, installation artists, and interdisciplinary practitioners looking for a unique production or exhibition space.
Availability
Visconti Studio is an active teaching and research facility as well as a commercial studio, and our schedule reflects that. During term time, availability is more limited, though evening, overnight, and weekend sessions can usually be arranged with enough notice. During the summer period, longer lockouts are possible, and the studio's availability opens up considerably.
We are always happy to discuss scheduling and can usually find a way to accommodate your project.
Collaborative sessions
As a facility where professional practice and education meet, we are able to offer reduced rates for sessions where clients are open to working alongside our students or researchers.
This might mean allowing an intern to observe or assist, or sharing some insight into your working process with our postgraduate researchers. Many of the artists and producers who record here value this exchange, and it has become one of the distinctive aspects of working at Visconti Studio. If this is of interest, let us know when you get in touch.
