Tony producing KU Stylophone Orchestra

On Tuesday 10th September 2019, the first recording session of the new term saw Tony Visconti producing Kingston University‘s Stylophone Orchestra. An historic occasion! Two pieces were recorded – one is a TV original and, at this stage, is still top secret. The other was an arrangement of the Bowie classic track Space Oddity. The music was arranged and conducted by StyloOrch leader, Dr Leah Kardos. It was a brilliant day which saw a variety of creative practice in the studio. A big thank you to both Tony and Visconti Studio engineer, Rob Plummer for their expertise.

We are also extremely fortunate to be working with Stylophone manufacturers Dubreq who also attended the session, bringing with them a variety of instruments including some new prototypes which look (and sound) really exciting. Keep your eyes posted for news of these via their website.

The Stylophone Orchestra is a music-making group which anyone at Kingston University can join. Current membership includes students from music’s BA Hons Popular Music and BA Hons Music Technology degrees, as well as students from other KU courses…even some of our alumni.

We can’t wait to share the finished track with you!
